Projects

euroCRIS is currently participating in various international projects. These include some EU-funded projects. On top of this, funding has recently been secured for the OpenAIRE-supported METIS2OpenAIRE project.

Ongoing projects

METIS2OpenAIRE (2018-02-01 to 2018-05-15)
The METIS2OpenAIRE project has been awarded funding under the end-of-2017 OpenAIRE call for tenders. The project, funded in the category of 'Repository Tools and Services', sets out to make a first institutional CRIS system compatible with the recently released updated version (v1.1) of the CERIF-XML OpenAIRE Guidelines for CRIS Managers. This work to enhance system interoperability will first and foremost be carried out on the METIS CRIS at Radboud University Nijmegen in the Netherlands. In order to ensure a widespread adoption of the new OpenAIRE Guidelines, the project is also working with two external, budget-neutral partners that have committed to its implementation on their respective solutions: these are Pure and OMEGA-PSIR

Jisc Research Data Shared Service (RDSS)
Collaboration with the Jisc RDSS project for the CERIFication of the underlying data model. The Jisc RDSS aims to enable researchers to easily deposit data for publication, discovery, safe storage, long term archiving and preservation. euroCRIS is teaming up with the Jisc in order for the RDSS solution to achieve the maximum possible degree of system interoparability that will allow the service to interact with a wide range of external services and platforms including CRIS systems.

VRE4EIC (2015-10-01 to 2018-09-30)
VRE4EIC is the most recent EU-funded project that euroCRIS is taking part in. VRE4EIC stands for Europe-wide Interoperable Virtual Research Environment to Empower Multidisciplinary Research Communities and Accelerate Innovation and Collaboration. It started in October 2015 and its main goal is to develop a reference architecture and prototypes to be used for future VREs. euroCRIS is the leader of a Work Package related to interoperability, metadata and research contextualisation, during which mappings of several formats to and from CERIF are expected and wished to be standardised to allow for – amongst other things - interoperability between e-Research Infrastructures around datasets and software services.

    Finished projects

    HOLACLOUD (closed as of 2016-12-31)
In 2015 and 2016 euroCRIS took part in the EC-funded project HOLA CLOUD. The full title of the project is Effective collaboration for European RD and Innovation in software, services and Cloud computing: Knowledge discovery and Road mapping. HOLA CLOUD aims to establish effective mechanisms for efficient collaboration among the members of the software, services and Cloud computing community. The euroCRIS team will be key in the 2 main deliverables: an online platform where CERIF will format the metadata for the content, and a scientific conference, first of a series roadmapping the cloud computing developments in Europe.

    PASTEUR4OA (closed as of 2016-07-31)
PASTEUR4OA (Open Access Policy Alignment Strategies for European Union Research) aims to support the European Commission’s Recommendation to Member States of July 2012 that they develop and implement policies to ensure Open Access to all outputs from publicly-funded research.

PASTEUR4OA will help develop and/or reinforce open access strategies and policies at the national level and facilitate their coordination among all Member States. It will build a network of centres of expertise in Member States that will develop a coordinated and collaborative programme of activities in support of policymaking at the national level under the direction of project partners.

    ENGAGE (closed as of 2014-05-31)
Although the ENGAGE project finished in 2014, the platform, www.engagedata.eu, is still alive and you can browse and request datasets: have a look! Also, check the nice video presenting the ENGAGE platform! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ty-piEwcwfY

CERIF-CRIS Reference Implementation (CC-REFIM) and CERIF compatibility testing system

    The project goals are:

    • To provide a reference system able to reliably check and confirm CERIF compatibility of
      • (a) CERIF-CRIS software platforms (e.g. PURE, CONVERIS, Symplectic Elements, Research in View, etc.) and
      • (b) individual operational CERIF-CRIS systems currently in production, for example institutional, national or international CRIS (e.g. OpenAIREplus, EuroRIs-Net+).
    • To develop an open system that will be available for any interested party to study and understand CERIF down to the implementation level
