Three New Members to the CASRAI Board of Directors

From our Strategic Partner CASRAI, we received the following message. 

"Joining our board are Helen Atkins, Simon Kerridge and Kathleen Shearer. All three bring a wealth of knowledge and influence in the research and scholarly  information communities.  We’re fortunate to have their expertise,  talent and energy at our Board of Directors table as we continue to strengthen the global research information landscape." Helen Atkins

Helen is Director of Publishing Services at the Public Library of Science located in San Francisco, California.  Ms. Atkins joined PLOS in 2013. She has more than 30 years' experience in various aspects of scholarly publishing. Prior to PLOS, Ms. Atkins was Editorial Director at American Association of Cancer Research, handled publisher accounts at HighWire Press, and held a variety of positions  at for Thomson/ISI (now Thomson Reuters).  She has been active in standards development throughout her career, is currently the PLOS representative at NISO, and serves on the Crossref Board.

Simon Kerridge

Simon is Director of Research Services at Kent University in Canterbury UK.  Dr.  Kerridge is responsible for the central research office of 25 staff at Kent covering all aspects of research support including pre-award, contracts, post-award, information, REF, ethics and governance. He has been a research manager and administrator for over 20 years and is a veteran of four RAE/REF submissions at two institutions. Dr. Kerridge is immediate past Chair of the Association of Research Managers and Administrators (ARMA.  He is a member of: the steering group of the “Independent Review of the Role  of Metrics in Research Assessment” which is advising the Higher Education Funding Council for England; the Universities UK Open Access Group; and the Jisc Open Access and ORCID steering groups. He holds a professional doctorate in electronic research administration.

Kathleen Shearer

Kathleen is Executive Director at Confederation of Open Access Repositories (COAR).   COAR is an international organization that represents over 100 institutions worldwide (Europe, Latin America, Asia,  and North America). Its mission is to enhance the visibility and application of research outputs through global network of open access repositories based on international collaboration and interoperability. Ms. Shearer also works with Canadian Association of Research Libraries (CARL), Research Data Canada (RDC), and the Association of Research Libraries (ARL).
